Perfect length, great material
I read his other longer book years ago and found it overwhelming. This is the perfect length and easy to understand. It is a more concise summary of the larger book, I would recommend this for people over the larger book.

I would look at the appendix for his top 10 favorite supplements. If you tried every supplement in the book you would be spending around $500 a month or so. So the top 10 is useful. The proboost though is ridiculously expensive. Instead I am using a mushroom based immune booster. And instead of the form of ribose he recommends I am using a form of bioenergy ribose sold on amazon(Dr's Best, or Swanson's uses this form). It is made in the US but more reasonably priced. Seems to work great just stay clear of the cheap Chinese garbage. If you are in a tight budget a good multiple, good B complex, d-ribose and a sleep supplement are likely the most important if you can't afford everything he recommends.

I bought this book with marked skepticism, thinking it would be mainly a promotion of alternative medicine and naturopathic remedies. I found however that the theories and treatments are well thought out and do provide rational approaches to the chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia syndromes. Dr. Teitelbaum explains the causes and care of many of the symptoms associated with the condition, and suggests treatments, some of which may lack validity, but are quite interesting.
as a retired physician, I found myself wishing I had had access to this when I was in practice, although I realize that mainstream medicine would look askance at some of the conclusions especially regarding thyroid testing.and treatment. I recommend this book to anyone who has an interest and can read it with an open mind

gave me hope
My husband purchased this for me because he's seen in the 17 years we've been together how tired I always am. I don't have the energy to do the things I want to and don't spend as much time with him or our son as I would like because I'm just so tired all the time! I also have struggled with weight issues since childhood and I am colder than everyone I've ever met. These are classic symptoms of underactive thyroid but I have seen countless doctors for this and they've all told me "nope, you're hormones are in the 'normal range', there's nothing wrong with you". This book explained why the "normal range" doesn't mean you're normal and also talked about many other reasons for my symptoms. I am going to have a consultation with Dr. Teitelbaum this week and hopefully get started on his protocol for treating fatigue, and for the first time I feel like a doctor might actually be able to help me!!!

A different way to live... it's a bible of better personal care
This is my third gut book in the past year and is the most helpful. It took a while to get used to the theme which is "live dirty, eat clean" but after a while it makes sense. A few things that caught my eye as good ideas in the area of having a profound effect on your external and internal microbiome::

-Get a bidet and quit taking so many baths.
-Make your own skin and hair products using stuff like coconut oil and manuka honey

There's details on whether you need a probiotic and which one to take. A lot of probiotics are not helping.

The recipes are low sugar. high fiber. The chocolate chip cookies made with almond flour instead of wheat flour are excellent. But the author does a great job of mixing up the things you can do with kale and other high nutrition ingredients.

Makes the point that it isn't that meat is bad for us but rather that lack of plant fiber is.

How Sick Are You? Ask Your Gut, Not Your Doctor
We live in a new age of weird diseases and symptoms -- many traveling under the "auto-immune" banner. We are lacking in good bacteria~Get in balance and feel better!
This book came just in time for me. It is written in clear easy to understand language. So many of todays common illnesses are due to the over use of antibiotics. I was a Microbiologist when working so I saw that all the time. I too am a victim of too many and I am paying the price now. If you have fatigue, bloating, constipation, brain fog, depression, weight gain and many more, it may be an imbalance in your intestinal flora. Little did our oarents know all those unnecessary antibiotics as a child could cause us so much trouble as adults.

I have so much highlighted and questions written in my book to ask my doctor about. I never knew thzt treating my acid reflux could cause so much damage. I hope to get off some medications and start the Live Dirty Eat Clean plan soon. Most likely since I am in such poor health it will be a long journey but I have found hope in this book that even very severe cases can at least make some improvement.

Kindle edition problem
I hope I can update this review later! Reading the Kindle version. It's an awesome read and I am very intrigued. I think the book is written very well and I can't stop reading... until I get stuck on an obviously missing section. That is more than annoying! Fix the electronic version before you charge money it! It's like a stupid cliffhanger in a great series :-(.

Torn
First of all I want to say, I did not read this book to help my daughter lose weight but to maintain and healthy weight and learn good nutrition. So my judgment may be different then others.

First the good. The concept is good and very appealing to kids. It is a great way to teach kids portion control. You get so many green foods a day and you can trade green foods to get yellow. You also get two red foods a week. Non sweetened fruit and veggies are unlimited. There are also some good diagrams such as hunger and fulness scale, and how to measure portion sizes.

The bad. There are a lot of green foods that are not nutritious. Example: Lucky Charms, white bread and white pasta, totino pizza rolls, candy corn, jelly beans, peeps, 100 cal packs and so on. And while I believe everything in moderation, I don't feel this is good way to teach nutrition. Also she uses a lot of Splenda. My kid gets it... and likes having tools to make good decisions
My daughter has been heavy since the day she was born @ 10LB 12OZ, 8 years ago. She LOVES to eat but is starting to hate the effects of being heavy (like feeling different from other kids and not being as good at sports and such). This book not only gives me a foundation for talking with her about making changes (as opposed to me vapidly nagging and talking abstractly about making good choices), but also a simple, straightforward guide upon which she can base her good food related decisions. I think reading this book together takes a lot of the "sting" out of talking about her excess weight (and mine) and gives her tools she can use to change her eating habits for life.

She likes the book, she gets the concepts, she is making progress.

I think we all need a bit of a kick-start in the new year by eating right, especially with our kids! Red Light, Green Light, Eat Right is fabulous, not just for the parent of a child who is overweight, but for all parents. I can already tell you from experience this book is changing how I help my child who is struggling with weight. We were getting portion control right, but now I see our calories and fat amount was way way off.. so wonder we've hit a wall with his weight loss. I love that a Pediatrician created this program and that Dr. Dolgoff is so responsive. She is both on twitter and facebook!
