Passable guide, but certainly not a reference book

A very brief and concise view of venture capital structures, but also somewhat basic in content. Examples could use more details (e.g., the sample weighted average anti-dilution calculations).
Disappointed that the author does not address more complicated security structures other than common and straight convertible preferred. Also, I was surprised given the recent publication date that there was not a comparison on how deal terms have changed from the dot-com boom and bust.
Certainly not a must have book for my bookshelf.
Sahlman's Entrepreneurial Venture is a much better "reference" book and cheaper too.

Very Disappointed

After enjoying his first book, Term Sheets and Valuations, I was looking forward to this one. I regret to say that I found it a big waste of time and a bigger waste of money.

It appears as if the marketing of the book by the pblisher sought to take advantage of his first book by raising the price by 500%, giving the impression that this book was better or more comprehensive. However, nothing could be further from the truth.

Direct to the Deal Terms
This book has a few sample drafts of term sheets and other legal documents. That is not the primary focus of this book. You can hire that kind of talent (legal drafting) on a per hour basis. This book helps the owners make the BUSINESS decisions necessary to avoid hamstring their new venture during this difficult passage. Included is information about what to pay your independent directors, advisory board members and senior management. Also included is what percentage of the company the founders should expect to keep, how to avoid excessive dilution during an unfortunate down round and how to present your opportunity to potential investors. All of these BUSINESS decisions are beyond the discretion of attorneys in this area, they typically instruct the entrepreneur to reflect upon the topic and then the attorney will draft it to suit.

A different way to live... it's a bible of better personal care

This is my third gut book in the past year and is the most helpful. It took a while to get used to the theme which is "live dirty, eat clean" but after a while it makes sense. A few things that caught my eye as good ideas in the area of having a profound effect on your external and internal microbiome::

-Get a bidet and quit taking so many baths.
-Make your own skin and hair products using stuff like coconut oil and manuka honey

There's details on whether you need a probiotic and which one to take. A lot of probiotics are not helping.

The recipes are low sugar. high fiber. The chocolate chip cookies made with almond flour instead of wheat flour are excellent. But the author does a great job of mixing up the things you can do with kale and other high nutrition ingredients.

Makes the point that it isn't that meat is bad for us but rather that lack of plant fiber is.

How Sick Are You? Ask Your Gut, Not Your Doctor
We live in a new age of weird diseases and symptoms -- many traveling under the "auto-immune" banner. People by the droves go to their primary care doctors and complain of stomach and digestive ailments (bloating, food allergies, abdominal pain), light-headedness, fatigue, skin rashes, eczema, rosacea, and worse. Their doctors, in turn, follow the protocols of their training and order up standard tests in search of something physical. The tests come back negative. We are lacking in good bacteria~Get in balance and feel better!
This book came just in time for me. It is written in clear easy to understand language. So many of todays common illnesses are due to the over use of antibiotics. I was a Microbiologist when working so I saw that all the time. I too am a victim of too many and I am paying the price now. If you have fatigue, bloating, constipation, brain fog, depression, weight gain and many more, it may be an imbalance in your intestinal flora. Little did our oarents know all those unnecessary antibiotics as a child could cause us so much trouble as adults.

I have so much highlighted and questions written in my book to ask my doctor about. I never knew thzt treating my acid reflux could cause so much damage. I hope to get off some medications and start the Live Dirty Eat Clean plan soon. Most likely since I am in such poor health it will be a long journey but I have found hope in this book that even very severe cases can at least make some improvement.

Unique insight
Over the last couple of years there has been an explosion of new and valuable material written on the experience of autism, much of it written from the points of view of either how to deal with an autistic child or a more medical explanation of symptoms. Reading about what it actually feels like to live with autism is very rare. Daniel's ability to so carefully describe to us how he experiences life is highly unusual and must be incredibly valuable to researchers.

Daniel Tammet is still a very young man, and his autobiography is necessarily not going to be very long. Moreover, due to the nature of his condition it was not until very recently that he has had much by way of dealings with the outside world. Much of the book takes place in his own mind, his relationships with numbers, logic, mathematics, chess and puzzles, essentially how his mind organizes its thought. Reading this book helped remind me, as a parent, of all the things that challenge my son daily. Because he is so bright, you tend to forget how difficult life can be for high functioning children on the spectrum. It is a simple, direct look at the challenges they face. I plan on buying one for his school library (and one for every relative who thinks his problem is a parenting issue!).

The Best Book for Aspies & Those Who Know 'Em

I live with an adult Aspie, and this is simply the most helpful book we've encountered. The format may be geared for children, but even adults with Asperger syndrome will find this tremendously helpful and uplifting. The astute narrative helps partners of Aspies, not just parents, have more understanding and compassion. The photographs are absolutely wonderful and extremely emotive, more than words alone! The tiny, fuzzy creature on page 59, with a blurb "I dunno" and, "because we always have a logical reason for what we do, even if we don't know how to say it in words" is perfection! Even the author's dedication, at the front of the book, is delightful, "thank you for giving me the time and space to write and for not making me earthbound." Also, Hoopman's All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome helps me understand my Aspie better (who loves these books too). Enjoy!

We first bought "All Cat's Have Asperger Syndrome" when our 4 year old was newly diagnosed, and it quickly became a favorite in our house. Our son sleeps with it in his bed and we read it 4-5 times a week. When this new book came out, we quickly picked it up for Christmas. It is wonderful! I think it does a great job illustrating the trials and strength of your typical Aspie. As the author points out, not everything fits our son, but that is ok. Aspies do not all look the same, so it makes sense he doesn't relate to everything. The pictures are great, the sentences short and simple. This is a must for any parent, child, educator, family member, or friend with Aspies and children with high-functioning Autism in their lives.

Over the last couple of years there has been an explosion of new and valuable material written on the experience of autism, much of it written from the points of view of either how to deal with an autistic child or a more medical explanation of symptoms. A must read for parents and family of autistic children and adults. To finally discover an explanation for the little habits...obsession with spinning, walking in circles, plugging/covering of the ears, rocking... It's all here in one place. While I have become very accustomed to my son's habits, I have never understood what exactly was causing the behavior. After reading Tammet's book, I feel I can better help my son enjoy his environment.
