Did you know that simple changes in your diet could increase your fertility by 60 percent? That what you eat when you're pregnant could affect whether your child will need to wear glasses or braces? That increasing your intake of certain nutrients before you become pregnant could radically decrease your chances of suffering from morning sickness?

In Beautiful Babies, nutrition educator Kristen Michaelis reveals the truth about diet and pregnancy. Based on her research of the nutrient-rich diets of healthy and fertile populations around the world, she lays out exactly what you should and shouldn't eat when trying to conceive, during pregnancy, and while breast-feeding. In the first half of the book she explains the ways industrialized foods can prevent pregnancy, how a low-fat diet can increase your likelihood of infertility by 85 percent, what to do if breast-feeding doesn't work for you, why babies can't digest cereal, and gives step-by-step instructions on how and when to introduce your baby's first foods. In the second half of the book she equips you with more than 50 recipes for incorporating traditional fertility-boosting foods into your diet. Beautiful Babies provides you with everything you need to know about having a healthy pregnancy and nourishing your growing baby.

Orange Cheese Lover Says: This Changed My Life
I'm not a foodie. I love processed foods. Orange cheese, McDonalds, tube cookie dough... what the heck is this book on my recommendations page? Why would I even order it? I'm not a Weston Price person or any of those organizations. (15 days ago I had NEVER heard of Weston Price.) Heck, I didn't even know what coconut oil was or what the difference between corn and canola oil was two weeks ago. Why would you want beef that was raised on grass when corn-fed beef doesn't have that kind-of weird taste? And yes, chicken skin is so good, but it's really bad. Now, I eat and sleep and breathe this stuff. I mean it. Amazon somehow figured I might like this. Probably when I was buying a yogurt maker or a Montessori teaching book. I buy nothing else with Organic, Slow Food, Grass-Fed, or the like in the title. It's a little frightening how they could predict. Well, it arrived. I ordered it sort-of irresponsibly because I always feel a little guilty that I can't breast feed. I opened it sitting...
Ideal nutrition to promote fertility, a healthy pregnancy, breastfeeding, and baby's first solids
Kristen Michaelis is well-known in the blogging world for her site “Food Renegade,” which focuses on a traditional foods diet. Now she has applied her knowledge of nutrition to baby-making; “Beautiful Babies” is all about how to eat right to promote fertility, being healthy while pregnant, how a woman's diet can improve the quality of her breastmilk, and venturing into the world of solid foods once the baby is ready. Like many in the traditional foods movement, Michaelis promotes the dietary principles advocated by the Weston A. Price Foundation; unlike some names from that community who have been in the blogging spotlight of late, Michaelis is refreshingly non-judgmental towards women who do not maintain a “perfect” diet. Good nutrition is indeed important, and it is the author's goal to help women work towards it, but she keeps a very positive attitude about it all, offers suggestions to help those who are having a hard time eating certain...
This book increased my fertility!
After miscarrying my first pregnancy I was told I had a hormonal imbalance that was possibly PCOS (though I don't fit the standard profile) and it would be necessary for me to use fertility drugs to have a "strong" ovulation. After 8 months of following the recommended low-fat, calorie counting diet that many physicians adhere to, 3 rounds of fertility drugs and 2 failed IUIs, my husband and I were feeling hopeless and helpless (not to mention broke as we had spent some of our house savings for fertility treatments).

At the end of February I pre-ordered this book and took your online "Beautiful Babies" course. I started the course right away and made several immediate changes, most importantly adding in more good fats to my diet as I learned about the important role of cholesterol in hormone production. My TSH(thyroid) levels equalized after 5 months of being elevated and I felt much better. My other hormone levels began to equalize as well (all confirmed by blood test). I...

Seeing improvement after two weeks
I am always dealing with aches especially in my arms and back. I found this book exceptionally helpful and have already had some success from applying some of the changes to my eating habits and my diet that I learned in the book. I highly recommend it as the best book available on foods and diet for fibromyalgia. If you have this issue you can't go wrong with Foods that Fight Fibromyalgia

Contradicting
Disappointed - The book says to avoid gluten, soy, and dairy....so why are their so many recipes with tofu, cream cheese, and mayinaise ( which I have been told by dr is a no no)?! Seems contradicting. I feel I would have been better off spending my $ on a paleo cookbook that had MORE recipes that don't include Gluten, dairy or soy! I so feel I wasted my $ :-(

GREAT BOOK!
GREAT BOOK!!! I am a long time fibromyalgia suffer and have done lots of research over the years on how to manage my symptoms without taking lots of medications. I am also a Registered Nurse that specializes in wellness. This book is spot on with all my personal findings. I wish I had found this in the beginning, it would have saved me so much time and frustration. If you are new to fibro, do yourself a favor and get this book. If you are a long time suffer, get this book! It is life changing. I have had a LONG journey with fibro and I can honestly say, proper nutrition and exercise is the key to managing your symptoms. The book is very informative and will guide you along the way.

This unique subject Offer exceeded out prospect, this one has chaned into a wonderfull buy for me personally, The thought came correctly and also rapidly Cooking for Baby: Wholesome, Homemade, Delicious Foods for 6 to 18 Months

From celebrated children’s-food author Lisa Barnes, Cooking for Baby is a fully illustrated, gorgeous, four-color book that takes parents through the basics of preparing nutritious, delicious (and easy!) meals for your child, from six to eighteen months.

Parents today know that one of the best ways to give a baby a great start in life is with wholesome, homemade foods. While ready-made baby food is a convenience that any new parent can appreciate, feeding everyday fresh foods is the best way to teach a child healthy eating habits and an appreciation for good food from the cradle onward.

The eighty recipes in Cooking for Baby make preparing delicious meals for babies and toddlers a breeze, even for busy parents. The recipes are organized by age, showing how to introduce cereal grains and simple vegetable and fruit purees to your infant at six months, how to move on to chunkier foods by eight or nine months, and how to graduate to real meals for young toddlers of twelve to eighteen months to enjoy along with the entire family. When you see how easy it is, with a few smart tips on preparation and storage, you’ll never go back to the jars.

With Cooking for Baby, your youngster will enjoy a wide variety of fresh and interesting foods for a very happy and healthy beginning.

cooking for baby
This book has great recipes, and it's well written. What I like the most about this book is that it starts simple with one-ingredient purees, and gradually introduces recipes that have more texture and use the same ingredients that the baby has already had. Before each section of the book (e.g., 6 months, 7-8 months, 9-11 months, etc), there is some good information about food choices, textures, quantities, and similar, that I found useful... I have read many baby food books, and I believe that this one is one of the better ones. Highly recommend it.

Destined to become a classic!
This book should be given to all new parents! Excellent organization according to baby age, easy-to-read format, beautiful photos. Includes great lists such as what foods are easiest for baby to digest, which foods might cause gas, and which foods are best introduced when baby is a bit older. Great tips on storing and freezing food. Love that each recipe has side notes about specific foods. This is the best common-sense, organic, healthy approach to feeding your child...don't hesitate to buy it!

Great Recipes
I bought this book since I was planning to cook at home for my daughter and I needed some ideas. This book is excellent for the following reasons:

- Separates food introduction by ages:
6 months
7-8 months
9-11 months
12-18 months

- Recipes are simple to follow(believe me I am not an expert on cooking and I was able to make it) and above all they are healthy.

- Tips on food introduction, finger foods and alerts on possible food allergies.

The recipes are really yummy and I even tried some of the recipes myself.

Great recipes and comprehensive diet information
I have had the original Whole Life Nutrition cookbook since it came out and I LOVE this new version. The original has been my most used cookbook over the years, hands down! This new book includes the very latest nutrition science, and I especially appreciated the information and perspective on all the latest diets including the paleo diet.

There are new chapters, and several new recipes. There is a whole chapter on cultured foods. I believe there are over 300 recipes altogether. We really enjoyed the new Quinoa tortillas and the grain free and vegan Apple Walnut Crisp. This book still contains many of our old favorites like Red Lentil Dal, Coconut Vegetable Curry, Wild Salmon with Lemon, Garlic and Thyme, Home-Style Chicken and Vegetable Stew, Raw Energy Balls, and Lemon Blueberry Pudding (I first made this pudding nearly 9 years ago and still remember my first taste, it gave me the satisfaction to continue my first elimination diet!) There are several smoothie and salad...
Delicious & Wholesome!!!
My husband got me the Nourishing Meals Cookbook for my birthday in February and pre-ordered me the Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook, which came in a couple of weeks ago. We LOVE the recipes from both cookbooks. Within a few days of getting the Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook, we made the beef stew with swiss chard, lentil and brown rice salad, and fish tacos (we used salmon) and we devoured all of them. The chocolate avocado frosting from the Nourishing Meals Cookbook is dangerously delicious -- I found myself eating it from the container with a spoon, and when used to frost the vanilla cake topped with fresh strawberries...YUM!!! We also can't get enough of the walnut brownies from Nourishing Meals Cookbook. I can't wait to make every recipe from both books and am really looking forward to trying the fermentation recipes from Whole Life Nutrition. In addition to the recipes, the books are full of helpful information about the role our diet plays in our overall health and wellness -- I'm...
The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook is a VERY well researched, informative work.
The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook is a VERY well researched, informative work. The title says it's a cookbook but it's much more than just a cookbook. The first chapter opens with the following Voltaire quote that I believe sets the tone for the book: "Everyone should be his own physician. We ought to assist and not force nature. Eat with moderation what agrees with your constitution. Nothing is good for the body but what we can digest. What medicine can produce digestion? Exercise. What will recruit strength? Sleep. What will alleviate incurable ills? Patience." If you believe in the what goes in, must come out philosophy, you will find something in this book to assist you in bettering your health! From the novice to the pro in the kitchen and garden, there's something for you here!

If you've watched Doctor Oz, you've probably heard of the "blue zones" which are areas around the planet where people live the longest and with the greatest health. The recipes...
